A massive street party and scene based events in the heart of Leeds organised by the Leeds lesbian and gay community. The Amnesty International Leeds group will be taking part as it´s not only great fun but to remind people that being able to choose and express your sexual orientation is a human right. A human right that sadly does not exist in all communities around the world.

We are thrilled that this hugely popular choir from Nottingham is able to make a return visit to this year’s series. They appear fresh from appearances on TV and festivals and will take us on a musical repertoire from madrigals to the Beatles. company in a wonderful, pre-tour production full of magic, music and song.

Still Human, Still Here Sleepout; Summer 2007 ( Leeds)

From 11pm on Saturday 16th June to 6am on Sunday 17th June at Mill Hill Unitarian Chapel. Many organisations at both a national and local level, including Amnesty International, Refugee Council, Church Action on Poverty and many others too numerous to mention, have joined together in a campaign called Still Human, Still Here dedicated to highlighting the plight of refused asylum seekers. As part of this campaign a sleepout has been organised in Leeds to raise local awareness of this issue.

Sponsored Walk for Destitute Refugees and Asylum Seekers

Members of Amnesty International Leeds Group, in association with Positive Action For Refugees and Asylum Seekers (PAFRAS) are planning a sponsored 6 mile walk for destitute asylum seekers. There are over 3,500 destitute asylum seekers in Leeds who are denied the right to work, receive no support, and have no legal access to shelter.

All money raised by this walk will be used to support destitute asylum seekers.

Down and Out in Leeds Winter 2006

Amnesty International Leeds group is campaigning on the issue of destitute asylum seekers being denied basic human rights (see the recent Amnesty report). On Saturday December 9th members of the group will be sleeping rough, in Leeds city centre in solidarity with destitute asylum seekers, hoping to raise the profile of the situation and to show solidarity with their fellow human beings who are being denied such basic human rights.

The North East regional conference will be held at Leeds Metropolitan University. See the flyer on the Amnesty International UK website for more details. Cycling from John O´Groats to Land´s End

Three members of the Amnesty International Leeds group, with nerves of steel and highly developed calf muscles, are cycling from John O´Groats to Land´s End to raise awareness of Amnesty International´s work and to raise funds. In order to get there, they will need lots of motivation which you can provide with a small donation.

The Rawdon Amnesty Series is a series of musical and drama events to raise funds for Amnesty International. Admission to the events is free and everyone is welcome. A voluntary collection will be taken at the event. All of which is passed on to Amnesty International.
